The project was implemented in the period May 2022 – September 2023, and aimed to strengthen the capacity of decision-makers and regulators through familiarization with the possibilities of using sludge in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH).
The project identified opportunities and necessary regulatory decisions to enable sludge producers, including municipalities and industry, to adequately use/handle sludge. In addition, the project sought to increase public awareness of the operation of wastewater treatment plants through educational and informational campaigns, as well as the daily challenges faced by wastewater treatment plants, in terms of the possibility of using sludge.
The project promotes the application of the circular economy in the treatment of waste water and sludge and increases public awareness of responsible sludge use practices. Project was financed by the Federal Environmental protection Fund.
