Dekonta has implemented the project Phase I: In-Depth Analysis of Environmental Protection (EDD) for 13 locations in the area of waste management in BiH in the period February – July 2023. This phase included a detailed investigation with the aim of determining potential or existing environmental concerns associated with these locations, in order to prepare the future investor to manage the given locations.
Activities included conducting a comprehensive review of historical and current site use to identify hazardous waste handling or disposal problems, and a thorough investigation of available records to identify any past environmental pressures. Detailed site inspections were conducted to assess the physical condition and identify any signs of contamination, and additional information was obtained through interviews with site personnel and local residents.
The primary objective of the Phase I EDD was to provide stakeholders with a clear understanding of the environmental conditions at each location, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and offer recommendations for the Phase II EDD. This detailed assessment phase helps identify potential risks to the environment, ensure regulatory compliance and plan for any necessary remediation or further testing in subsequent phases.
