BiH POPs inventory

The project was implemented by the TAUW/Enova/Dekonta Consortium. Dekonta was responsible for Component 4 of the project, specifically the site assessment. Following the development of the inventory, certain locations (17 in total) required additional detailed investigation. The site assessment involved soil sampling campaigns and laboratory analyses of the collected samples to determine the level of PCB contamination at sites.

The research strategy included the following elements: a preliminary site assessment that identified seven locations with potential PCB contamination. The soil at these locations was further analyzed to determine contamination levels and to appropriately map the contamination.

The second part of the component focused on remediation assessments for sites where PCB contamination was confirmed, and where risks to human health, ecosystems, and/or the migration of pollutants were identified.
